"The longer I paint, the more amazed I am at how beautiful the world is."

Biography
Abigail Faye McBride

Abigail McBride paints plein air landscapes, still lifes and portraits in the American Impressionist tradition. Her paintings focus on color and light. She works with both a brush and a palette knife.

In 2004 Abigail participated in the "Sunlight and Shadow" exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. The exhibit was presented in conjunction with an exhibit of the Bucks County Pennsylvania Impressionists. The public was invited to compare early Pennsylvania Impressionist paintings with the current generation of working Mid-Atlantic Impressionist painters.

The February 2000 issue of American Artist Magazine features a number of Abigail’s oil paintings. She is interviewed on her palette knife techniques. Pan Am’s inflight publication The Clipper Magazine featured a series of her marine and city views of Annapolis Maryland in July 2002.

Abigail was juried into the "Annapolis 350 Celebration" show at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. The Annapolis Watercolor Club awarded Abigail Best of Show at their annual juried show in 2001. She has had a solo show in Philadelphia every year since 2001. Her paintings were exhibited at the Philadelphia and Boston U.S. Artist’s Shows and the Affordable Art Fair in NY City.

In February of 2002 Maryland Public Television (MPT) featured Abigail painting snow-scapes on an annual painting trip with friends in Western Maryland. The segment aired on the "Outdoors Maryland" program, followed by an exhibition, "Shades of Winter" at Maryland Hall.

A Maryland artist, Abigail has studied under master impressionist, John Ebersberger, and Cedric and Joanette Egeli, nationally known portrait painters. Abigail graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California.

The study of the figure and portraiture is a passion in Abigail’s life. She is a founding member of both The Figure Society and The Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association. She is a portrait artist working in both charcoal and oil. Abigail shows her work in exhibits at the McBride Gallery in Annapolis, The Maryland Federation of Art, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Benfield Gallery in Severna Park, The FAN Gallery in Philadelphia, Berkley Gallery in Virginia and The Egeli Gallery in Provincetown, MA.
