Julien Friers

Julien Friers was born in 1956 in Bangor, County Down. His father was a Belfast wood sculptor whose work was influenced to a large extent by nature. His mother came from County Tipperary. The enthusiasm shown by his father for wildlife subsequently affected Julian's interests and future. He married his wife, Jill, in 1976 and with her support became a full-time painter. He lives on the Causeway Coast with Jill and their three children, Rory, Ciara and Ewen. He had his first exhibition in 1977. Since then his international reputation has increased rapidly. The rugged landscape of Scotland and Ireland have influenced his work over the years. Recent invitations to visit Europe, North Africa and the USA wil undoubtably affect his international presence.
