Jeanie Hendryx
Jeanie Hendryx is a sought-after portrait artist with portraits in collections all over the United States and abroad. Her primary mediums are pastel, charcoal and graphite. She excels in her pastels of children and teenagers, and enjoys doing single portraits or composing family groups. Jeanie Hendryx is a member of the Portrait Society of America, the Pastel Society of America, the Maryland Pastel Society, and she is currently Vice President of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters. At a young age, Jeanie realized her interest in drawing portraits and would spend hours drawing friends and relatives. Her passion for drawing was put on hold when she pursued a career in advertising but while home with her second child she determined to renew her studies of the portrait and the figure. She has studied with several important portraiture artists, including nationally known, Annie Award winning artists, Cedric and Joanette Egeli. Jeanie finds people fascinating and believes it is important for a portrait artist to get to know her subject by spending time with them before beginning the work. “I want to convey not just the likeness, but also the inner quality that makes up the personality, and character of the subject." A good portrait must be a good painting and the quality of the light, how it changes the color of skin or hair, the way it describes the time of day, or season has a most important role in the mood of the portrait and the quality Jeanie Hendryx has exhibited her portraits in several juried exhibitions as well as a solo show. McBride Gallery is pleased to represent the work of this talented Maryland artist. Visit our web site at www.mcbridegallery.com to see examples of Jeanie Hendryx’s pastel and charcoal portraits. |
