Maria Marino, PSA

It is when I find myself engaged in painting, my principal theme is to capture the sunlight in bold color. The work is my statement. The paint takes center stage exploring through eye and mind. Unexpected notes of color are used to break the defined place, pushing the chromatic response through line, texture, shape and color. The importance of the preparatory drawing is only part of it, one must see the finished painting before beginning, keeping true to my instinct belonging to my singular voice.

Biography
Born in Washington DC, Maria works and lives in suburban Maryland, where she graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art & Design in 1998 with a BFA in Interior Architecture. After a successful career as an interior desiger of corporate and educational facilities, she began painting full time in 2015. The artist exhibits regularly and has received recognition for her paintings in the Grand Gallery of the National Arts Club, the Pastel Society of America, the Salmagundi Club as well as exhibiting in national shows such as the American Impressionist Society. Marino is also featured on the cover and in an article, "Colors that Sing, Marks that Dance" in the December 2016 issue of the Pastel Journal.
