2009 Annual Calendar of Events and Exhibitions
Special Note:
We have planned a series of exhibitions for 2009 to showcase the newest paintings by our artists. We begin the year with 2 solo shows in March and April for oil painter Louis Escobedo and watercolorist Bruce Handford. For the month of July, the gallery will be filled with new paintings by McBride Gallery artists and a select group of invited 'guest' artists for our annual Summer Salon Show.
Following the 19th Annual Annapolis Art Walk event in August, we will host our 2nd annual Best of the Chesapeake exhibition opening in mid September. The end of October is our annual Autumn Celebration of Art; the featured artist is yet to be announced. It will be a year filled with the excitement of beautiful new paintings arriving. I hope you will come and enjoy a visit to McBride Gallery.

Exhibit Dates: April 19 – May 5, 2009
The opening reception to meet the artist is Sunday, April 19th from 1 – 3pm. Bruce Handford's watercolors have won numerous awards in regional and national juried shows. American Artist Magazine recognized his talent with a 11 page feature article in September 2007. Handford's paintings have a purity and energy created with fresh colorful washes emboldened by his strong free-form drawing technique. Entertaining the viewer with strong light and shadow, Handford’s loose painterly style captures the essence of the subject while focusing on the feeling and mood of the moment.

Description: Exhibit & Demonstrations
For the 19th year twenty galleries will participate in an evening of new art exhibitions and artist demonstrations. Families are welcome to enjoy an evening of art in Annapolis. Light refreshments will be served.
McBride Gallery will feature two (2) artists who will exhibit recent paintings and demonstrate their painting techniques.

Exhibit: “The Best of the Chesapeake: A Marine Exhibit”
Featured Artists: Group Theme Show
Show Dates: September 13 – October 4, 2009
The opening reception to meet the artists is Sunday, September 13th from 1 – 3pm. This maritime themed exhibit will feature historic scenes on the Chesapeake Bay from battle scenes to steamboats that ferried passengers and freight prior to the Bay Bridge to the wildlife, marshes, small coves and inlets that define this extensive waterway.
Artists will include: Eric Forsberg, Scott Cameron, Neil Harpe, Michael Kahn, Bill Schmidt, Jeremy Pearse, Michael Godfrey, Paula Waterman, John Bannon and more.
