I often hear artists speak of painters they admire and thought it would be interesting to build a show around that idea. We hosted a show with this theme in 2011. It was so well-received, we are hosting this one with new featured artists.
Each One Invites One II is a show with a unique twist. Four McBride Gallery artists each invited an artist they admired and respected. Robert Barber invited Kenn Backhaus, an oil painter from Pennsylvania. Abigail McBride invited John Francis Murray, an oil painter from Mayland. Lisa Mitchell invited Barbara Nuss, an oil painter from Virginia, now a recent Annapolis resident. John Brandon Sills invited Palden Hamilton, an oil painter from Maryland. This is a very brief introduction for 8 very impressive painters. I hope the sampling of show paintings on this page will entice you to come see their work in person.
Actually, at the Panel Discussion on November 8th you will hear more. At 2:00pm on Sunday at the opening reception, the guest artists will be introduced by their hosts. The host artist will share with patrons what they admire most, whether composition, brush strokes, mood, or the use of color in their guest artist's work. Audience participation is always welcome. I hope it will be educational, and informative and at the end of the panel discussion, perhaps we will look at the exhibition with new ‘eyes’ and appreciate the paintings from a new perspective.
