Christine Drewyer
Christine Drewyer was raised in a family of eight, the second child of six daughters. She grew up in the country, with lots of trees and their own garden. The family had a pet Black Angus cow named Girl a hound dog named Elvis and numerous other barnyard pets.
Christine finds great joy in painting the powerful tranquility of the rural American landscape or the beautiful, peaceful beasts of our planet. She hopes we will always reside in a world where we can enjoy these simple pleasures. She believes, if she is a successful artist, the paintings will transport the viewer beyond the senses, free of thought and self-consciousness. The paintings then become an instrument through which the viewer and the artist glimpse the joyful oneness of which we are all a part.
Launched by her rural upbringing and a profound love of the land, Christine went on to study at Maryland College of Art and Design. She blazed a path of museum shows, receiving awards in various national organizations including the Purchase Prize Award for the American Women Artists at the Haggin Museum. She is a member of these national fine art organizations, The Washington Society of Landscape Painters, Signature member of The National Oil & Acrylics Painters Society. Eventually executing tenures as President of both American Women Artists and The Women Artists of the West, of which she has achieved Master, Signature, Emeritus Member for both organizations. Most recently, Christine has served as a Selections Judge for the International Art Competition, The Almenara Collection, for two consecutive years.
