Denise Dumont Biography
Denise received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Parsons School of Design in New York City. She studied painting at the School of Visual Arts as well and frequented the studios of the Art Students League. Her work has been largely influenced by Edward Hopper, Edouard Vuillard and Fairfield Porter. “My favorite scenes are usually found in the light of early morning or late afternoon when the shadows are deep and dramatic.” Denise often paints outdoors in the plein air tradition and works on larger canvases in the studio. Born in New York, Denise spent her childhood on Long Island and adult years in New York City. Her desire for a more rural setting led her to the Delaware coast in 2004. In September of 2008, she relocated her studio to the historic Clipper Mill foundry in Baltimore where she continues to divide her time between the beach and the DC Metro area. Denise's work was recently purchased by the Academy Art Museum for display in their permanent collection of landscape paintings of Maryland's eastern shore. She exhibits regularly and is represented by fine art galleries in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. |
