Lynn Mehta Biography

Lynn Mehta was influenced by the art of her mother who painted the California landscape. She encouraged her interest in art by setting up her toddler easel outdoors, enrolling her in art classes, giving her personal instruction, and purchasing art supplies for her. She spent hours pouring over the “Art for Children” books by Ernest Lloyd Raboff, especially Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee.
 
“When I paint I connect with changing light, the color of the landscape, and movement. I focus on abstract shapes and forms creating a whole. The fluidity of oil paint is well-suited to my personality. I enjoy applying it thickly, moving it around as a form of my expression.”
 
Mehta holds Signature member status in the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Assoc. (MAPAPA) and the American Society of Marine Artists and is a juried Artist Member of the Salamagundi Club and the Washington Society of Landscape Painters.
 
Lynn has been a featured artist in Plein Air Magazine, Washington, DC’s Hill Rag, Southern Living and is included in Shiffer Publishing’s book, 100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic by Gary Pendleton.
 
She has juried into the Oil Painters of America, the Salmagundi Club, and the Washington Society of Landscape Painters. She is an Artist Member of Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and a Fellow of the American Artists Professional League, New York
