What is a Painter's Painting ?

Afternoon Outing at Rock Creek
Painting this particular plein air painting with such similar warm color and value forced me to look for subtle variations of color temperature. At some point during the painting process I like to respond only to the painting so that I can push things a bit further than if I just based my interpretation on what I was actually seeing. This is what makes the process so interesting. Lisa Mitchell
