Awards and Awards Juror The focus in the jurying process is to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter. The awards for this show will be approximately $11,500, including a $4,000 Best in Show award. One hundred OPA members will be exhibiting new paintings and competing for the award. The Juror of Awards will be internationally renowned OPA Signature Member, Nancy Howe.

History of Oil Painters of America: Oil Painters of America (OPA) was founded in 1991 by Shirl Smithson primarily to focus attention on the lasting value of fine drawing, color, composition and the appreciation of light. ... OPA is the first national organization to be established for the sole purpose of representing traditional, representational oil painters.  OPA membership currently stands at 3,400 artists. The principal reason behind the swelling of the ranks of this national organization is the strong commitment and support of artists and collectors in North America.

OPA hosts 4 major exhibitions each year, a National Juried Exhibition, a Juried Summer Salon show, an Eastern and a Western Regional Exhibition that showcase the paintings of artist members. All shows are juried and while many of the 3,400 members submit work for exhibitions, only a small percentage are selected for each show.

Gallery Hours: Mon.–Sat.10–5:30 , Sun.12 – 5:30, Thursday until 9:00 pm
